The Game

The Game

A Poem by jessfoundwonder

Everybody grab a hand and play your cards together

Whoever gives and loves the most will always get fucked over

When you're in you're in for as long as you please

It's okay to be used and to lie through your teeth

You probably will.

And if the rules aren't ingrained

And you've never been told

Well I'm sorry you'll have to be broken

If you ever will learn how to break hearts

And it's a delicate balance between the upper hand and the truth

And the consequenses eat through the soles of your shoes

It's a red letter lie that'll feed off your dreams

Then fly, fly away and take your everything

And we hurt and we cry and the sun never shines

But we lust for the lust that we mistake for real love

So we all run right back into

The past never stays the past

And the circle spins our lives around

Until we find someone to really care about
