A poem about a love I wish to findA Poem by jessicawritesThis poem isn’t about you. It’s not about: Your voice, silk, The way you think. It's not about the graceful Expansion of your pupils into The white of your eyes, Light-scattering super Explosions flickering Fireworks whenever You see her. When her perfect curls fall On her peach-pink lips and You tell me all about it, And I nod. And I nod Not out of obedience nor Surrender but of the Mechanical curse of a bob- Headed doll. A nod, a smile forced out of teeth, This poem is not about you. It’s not about the images Of you and her: Water and sand, Fingers intertwined, Neck and mouth. It is about a love I wish To find, which is love That is not yours, That cannot be yours, That is everything that I wished For it to be but yours. I wish this poem was about you. © 2025 jessicawrites |
