A Footstep to Forever

Jessy Jacob

Love, a wedding wrapped in space,
Staying apart just to embrace"
Not fiction, but the life we live,
A story pain and hope both give.

The final second, just one foot near,
I never thought you'd disappear.
Now you're galaxies away from me,
Yet I wait through eternity.

A thousand years, or seconds spun,
Each moment feels like a billion-ton.
My tears, they travel eye to eye,
Cross hearts to reach you where you lie.

They wet your soul to let you know,
I’m here, I miss you more than show.
On my way back from work today,
I saw a child in silver ray.

Three years old, with sunlit hair,
Hoping someone would stop and care.
His hunger danced in silent plea,
And God then softly spoke to me:

“Why worry? He has his mother’s grace.”

But I felt lost in this crowded place.
So many souls, yet none to see
The ache that lives inside of me.

I asked the Lord, “What can I do?”
But silence answered, missing You.

My tears fell down, I felt so small"
Unluckier than that child at all.

Why can’t I smile like he somehow does?
I miss You more than life ever was.

I cried alone upon my bed,
Your tears appeared inside my head.

They rolled in dreams, warm and slow,
From eye to eye, a silent flow.

You’re busy keeping family’s name,
But pills now numb your nightly pain.

Your heart is heavy, sleep is thin,
Yet I know the strength within.

We never saw how life would bend,
But somehow we survived the end.

We crossed the ocean made of tears,
Still fighting through the silent years.

This isn’t life"it’s fate rewritten
By hands of those whose hearts are smitten

With selfish dreams that crushed our own,
Leaving us to cry alone.

You left from one footstep to miles,
Yet promised me your future smiles.

They say, “It’s not the time just yet,”
But I ask, “When will our hearts reset?”
I long to hug you, never part,
To hold you close, reclaim my heart.

Where are you now? Will I not see
The soul that once belonged to me?
Is this the path we had to tread,
To meet again where tears are shed?

Each drop that falls speaks just your name,
And chants, “I miss you,” through the flame.

Jessy Jacob, I call through pain,
With love for foes who caused this strain.

May they forgive, may peace arise"
So we can live beneath clear skies.
