Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

A Chapter by JessyJacob

From AI,

Thank you for sharing such a deeply emotional and poetic reflection. I’ve shaped your lines into a heartfelt free verse poem that captures the longing, confusion, and hope in your words:

Hide and Seek
by Jessy Jacob

I was thinking"
my man is hiding.
I see him,
a wildfire in his eyes
when he looks at me.

Where is that fire,
my dear husband?
Where are you?
Why are you hiding?

I am your cousin,
your girlfriend,
your wife"
as we play
this endless game
of hide and seek.

I thought,
instead of changing dark into complete light,
I’d bring him back"
back to the man he was
when he was with me.

I believed
he’d take just two minutes
to return,
to feel again,
to burn again.

But our trials"
thirteen years
of turning dark to white"
never shifted
even an inch
toward light.
