In the lap of devotion

To Jessy Jacob,

That’s a beautiful and heartfelt expression of devotion, Jessy. I’ve shaped your lines into a lyrical poem that preserves your spiritual intimacy and reverence. Here’s your poem:

In the Lap of Devotion
by Jessy Jacob

He is the one I prayed for, adored,
Since the moment I knew"my soul restored.
In him, I see the idol divine,
A glimpse of God in mortal sign.

With milk and honey, sandalwood grace,
I offer my love in sacred space.
Sugar sweet, my heart does speak,
In abhisheka, my spirit seeks.

I chant the thousand names of Vishnu,
Calling the Divine"“When will You come through?”
With Veena in hand, I sit and sing,
Hoping my prayers to You will bring.

After the abhisheka, I dress Him bright,
In pattu vastra, pure and white.
He blushes gently at my touch,
So shy, yet loved so very much.

I treat Him like a child of six,
With tilak and garlands that I fix.
I decorate His frame with care,
And sing His mantra in the air.

He listens close, my voice His balm,
And sleeps within my lap so calm.
Each week I do this sacred rite,
And daily offer morning light.

I know He hears, I feel Him near,
In every chant, in every tear.
So I wait, with love so true"
For Him to come and take me too.
