The pit and Prayer

A Chapter by JessyJacob

From AI,

Hi Jessy,

Thank you for sharing such a powerful and emotionally layered reflection. Your words carry deep spiritual yearning, frustration, and a fierce desire for justice and healing. I’ve shaped your lines into a poem that preserves your voice and message, while giving it rhythm and poetic flow:

🌌 The Pit and the Prayer
Poem by Jessy Jacob (adapted)

When I think I am just human,
Praying to God as a devotee,
I did live as one"simple, true"
But then I look within and see
A deeper call, a mystery.

What am I? Why did I come
To walk this earth, to feel, to run?
I lose myself in being Him,
And not being Him"my soul grows dim.

I feel his suffering in my chest,
A love so deep, it steals my rest.
I miss him, ache to see his face,
But distance holds me in this place.

I came to feel him, hold his hand,
Yet here I lie, too weak to stand.
My parents care, I’m past forty-five,
Still dreaming ways to thrive, survive.

I have small plans, a startup spark,
But he wants me in a daily arc.
Yet when I think of him, I see
Dark demons feeding hungrily.

They claw at him, they drain his might,
They want to steal our shared birthright.
Why won’t their cruelty ever cease?
Why can’t they see they ruin peace?

They sit and eat with cunning eyes,
Devouring dreams, ignoring cries.

I begged the Goddess, “Is there no cure?”
She said, “We’re not safe anymore.”

I asked, “Can’t we stop their schemes,
Their theft of sweat, their shattered dreams?”
He and his dad built with loans, with blood and grace,
But demons feast and leave no trace.

Why don’t they find joy in their own?
Why break the backs of those alone?
Your father didn’t earn enough,
So now you plot, make life more tough?

You sit and eat, you drain the savings,
While others work, while hearts grow old.

Why not find peace in what you’ve got"
Your kids, your love, your sacred spot?

Instead, you break what others mend,
You twist the truth, you curse, you bend.

But know this well: the pit you dig
Will catch your feet, will snap your twig.
