Why the clock is called watch when it clings to wrist,

I wonder everyone if want to know the Time, then

You need to watch, I mean to see, so people thought it is

Better to use this word “Watch”, to tell people you need to

Watch your time, I am still curious did word watch emerge

First or after the clock was invented, no clue, no help from google



So I think watch word emerge first and made synonym to watch

That it is also called clock too on wrist but not

the clock on wall with pendulum swing….
