The legacy I carryA Chapter by JessyJacob
Thank you, Jessy. Your reflection is deeply moving"filled with reverence for your roots, spiritual strength, and the wisdom passed down through generations. I’ve shaped your words into a gentle and heartfelt prose narrative that preserves your voice while offering clarity and grace:
The Legacy I Carry by Jessy Jacob I’ve learned from my parents not only how to treat them with love and respect, but also how they honored their own parents. My father says my father, with quiet pride, never ate non-vegetarian food offered to God more than once. It was his way of showing reverence. My mother says my father often told me how she used to wake up early, and they would all rise at the sound of his cycle as he went out to distribute milk to families. That sound became a symbol of discipline and dedication. She also spoke of her mother working in the fields, and her grandmother doing even more"strong women who labored with love. Both my parents worked hard to preserve the land and property they inherited, not just for themselves but for the generations to come. My father would recall how his own father was a strict man, almost a terror to his brothers and uncles. Yet he called them “anna,” a term of respect, because they were close in age and shared a bond that went beyond hierarchy. When my parents speak of their parents, it’s as if they’re still alive. Their memories are vivid, full of warmth and reverence. And when I listen, I feel proud to be their granddaughter"to carry forward the legacy of such strong, devoted souls. Why should we feel sorrow when our loved ones return to God? Instead, we can remember them with joy, letting their stories refresh our minds and inspire us. Their struggles, their sacrifices"they become our strength. Praising those who lived well helps me feel closer to them, as if my love continues to reach them. That’s why I don’t feel the pain of missing my father-in-law or my grandparents who are now in heaven. I feel their presence in my heart. And when life becomes heavy, when troubles make me cry, I turn inward. I fast"not out of punishment, but as a way to cleanse and focus. I chant to my Mother Goddess, seeking her guidance. In that silence, I find resolution. In her presence, I find peace. Jessy Jacob ❤️ © 2025 JessyJacob |
