Hope in the silence

Hope in the silence

Hope in the Silence
by Usha/Jessy Jacob

I woke at 3:30, the world still asleep,
My grandmother stirred, her hearing not deep.
She asked why the light had broken the night,
I whispered, “Sleep escapes me,” soft and slight.

Love"how much we endure its flame,
When others speak without knowing the name.
“You’re older,” they say, “so let him go,”
But they never walked where my heart did flow.

I gave him my care, my soul, my grace,
Yet distance grew in time and space.
I’ve feared I’d lose him then and now,
Still I love him, and to fate I bow.

I cherish his mother, her gentle face,
Love given stays"it finds its place.
But love taken returns with weight,
And I wonder why you tempt his fate.

You have joy, a life complete,
Why disturb what’s pure and sweet?
I ask God, if this is how I must live,
Then take my breath, my soul to give.

Everyone needs him, so do I,
Yet I’m left beneath a distant sky.
Thrown away from the city he roams,
Till God showed him"in dreams, in tomes.

Each time I’ve loved, I’ve been denied,
As if God called me to His side.
So if you ask what I believe to be,
It’s that God needs me"and I must agree.
