I have observed a certain mentality in people: “If he did it, I will do the same.” But thinking this way leads nowhere�"it only ruins your own life. True progress comes from understanding your primary goal, ignoring those who try to distract or block your path, and focusing on what you need to achieve. Only then can success be yours.

For example, in my current role as a client PMC, I oversee a potable water treatment project. The vendor is struggling to manage the subvendor, who is based in the UAE but outsourcing work to Egypt. The team members often waste time, and as a result, the project is delayed. I cannot rely on them to deliver results. If I simply sat back, thinking “I am just an employee, why should I push so hard?” I would appear lazy, wasting time at my desk, and my career would stagnate. I would remain a mediocre engineer, unable to handle responsibility.

Instead, I chose to focus on my team, driving them to complete deliverables. If they failed, I stepped in myself. I realized that hard work benefits me directly�"no outsider can take that away. If my manager sees my dedication, he will entrust me with more assignments, accelerating my career growth.

That is why I urge others to see the bigger picture. Do not adopt a tit-for-tat attitude, like sprinkling water just because someone else did. Focus on your work, and enjoy the rewards that come from your own effort.

Yes, some people call me foolish for working so hard. But I do not care about their blame. Their words have not shaken my character or my commitment to hard work�"not even an inch.
