It's about timeA Poem by J. K. HannahTime is such a funny thing. And by funny I mean odd. How is it I’ve been here for 11 and ½ weeks already? That is more time than I spent in all in St Croix. And yet what have I done and who have I become? What’s another 11 ½ weeks on top of 18 years, 2 summers, 1 winter, and each Thanksgiving and Christmas? Why, it is just one more season in a rotation of seasons I’ve seen many times before. Change, it’s a process of adaptation. 'If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.' Here I have nothing to adapt to. I was raised for these conditions and people. If anything I am regressing to a person I was and thought I’d outgrew. Getting angry at my parents for not emptying the dishwasher, hanging out late nights at my friend’s house down the street, waking up late, eating too much candy. It’s hard to remember why I ever stopped doing these things back in this familiar, odd setting. It's about time- to go. © 2015 J. K. HannahAuthor's Note
