Life is a mirror

Life can take you by surprise.

When times are dark,
And your heart breaks apart,

When love is forbidden,
And dark poems are written,

When blood is spilled,
And bodies are on the field,

When hunger is the norm,
And everyone is at harm,

When the people fight back,
And the government cracks,

When you don't know what to do,
And you are feeling kind of blue,

Life reveals itself in the mirror,
Showing its not all silver,

It instead is a wonderful thing,
It's better than a diamond ring,

Memories are the only thing,
Our minds only hold the key,

Love is a game of cards,
Sometimes you lose but you don't fall far,

So while life may look grim,
Just look at me and say: "I'm glad I'm not him"

Very thought provoking. And I can relate. This reminds me of a soldier on the battlefield, looking into the mirror of their life. I have a child in the arm end forces that has been to the Middle East, deployed. I wonder if this is how she feels sometimes….

This reminds me of war, but not only the wars going on now.
To me it's like the soldiers of now, the grand children and such of past wars.
Thinking about the horror of the past, pretending its not real.
