The Lamentation of a MatchstickA Story by John A Rajuan imaginary complaining of a matchstick
Call me a whiner call me just an insignificant piece of wood, yet I am a hero in my own sight. Poems and philosophies have been written about the candle, which burns itself away to give others light, but what about me? I am struck hard yet I do not retaliate, in my agony I give light. I have just a moment of brightness in my life, and yet in that moment I light up the candle to brighten other's life. My evanescent flame gives life and light and I am a hero. I have no second chance and I believe in the tiny moment of my life I have made my existence useful. Yet no one has epitomized me, no one has immortalized me.
