Chapter 1 - Warning

This is the first chapter of the book.

Kenan found himself awake in bed with his legs being constructed by Elysia’s snake tail. He then got out of Elysia’s grip, walked out of bed, and headed for the kitchen. A few minutes later, Elysia joined Kenan at the table. “Kenan are you alright?” said Elysia. “I’m not sure.” said Kenan. Elysia held onto Kenan’s hand and said, “You can tell me what’s wrong. I am here for you like you’re here for me.” “I had a nightmare.” said Kenan. “What happened in it?” said Elysia. “I saw a man get murdered before my eyes. I begged repeatedly for the killers to stop but they couldn’t hear me. They just did what they wanted, ran away and laughed after that.” said Kenan. “Baby, you’ve been having these nightmares for months. Maybe you should do something about these dreams.” said Elysia. “I don’t know what though. I have been to therapists, counselors, and even tried prescriptions and none of them seems to work for me.” said Kenan. “You can keep trying. Never give up.” said Elysia. “Wait. I have another idea. I should talk to your mother. She might know.” said Kenan. “Okay. You go do that. Remember to never give up, baby.” said Elysia. “I won’t.” said Kenan as he kissed his wife. The very next day Kenan went back to Kafziel’s mansion. Kenan’s in-laws welcomed him with open arms. “Kenan!!” said Kafziel and Astaroth as they both embraced Kenan. “Hey Kafz!! Hey Astaroth!!!” said Kenan as he and his in-laws walked inside the house together. “So how are you doing Kenan?” said Kafziel. “To be honest, not so good.” said Kenan. “Really? Why?” said Astaroth. “Oh. I know. You have been having nightmares for the past few months you feel that were real.” said Kafziel. “Wait. How do you know that?” said Kenan. “Elysia texted me before you came.” said Kafziel. “That makes sense for her to do that.” said Kenan. “Right.” said Kafziel. “Anyway. What is happening to me? Why am I having these dreams?” said Kenan. “Your powers are evolving.” said Kafziel. “Evolving?” said Kenan. “Yes. You are turning into an empath. You are now seeing visions of the future.” said Kafziel. “The future?” said Kenan. As Kenan and Kafziel had their discussion, Byleth was watching the news. Out of curiosity, Kenan looked at the television screen and gasped as he noticed the faces being shown. “What’s the matter Kenan?” said Kafziel. Kenan approached Byleth and said, “Brother-in-law, can you turn that tv up please?” “Sure thing.” said Byleth as did what Kenan asked. “We have breaking news on a viral video that has sparked the world on a man who was murdered as a threat to the party mentioned in it. We blurred the face of the victim in the video. What you are about to see will shock you.” said the news anchor as the video was played. In the video, the same two masked women from Kenan’s dream were in it. The culprits appeared to be in a rundown kitchen in an abandoned apartment building. They were standing in front of a shattered glass cabinet. In front of them was a man tied to a chair and gagged fighting to break free and run. “Hello world. My name is Psyche.” said Psyche. “And my name is Ember.” said Ember. “We are filming this video to send a message to Blackburn Industries in Boston, and everyone involved with them. This man is an administrator for that company.” said Psyche as she ungagged the man’s mouth. “Please. I know nothing of what you are talking about.” said the man. Ember magically burned one of the man’s ears causing him to scream. “Consider that a demonstration of our power that we are going to use to bring justice and change the world to something even greater.” said Psyche as she strangled the man without touching him, causing him to choke. “Please.” said the man before he died from strangulation. “Blackburn Industries, if you are watching this understand that we are coming for you, and you will rue the day that you chose to commit your atrocious acts. Anyone out there who tries to stop us will meet their demise including the police, the federal agencies and especially The Time Guardians.” said Psyche as the video ends. “Byleth, can you change the channel to something else for a second?” said Kenan. “Of course.” said Byleth as he did what Kenan asked. “So, Kenan. What are you going to do?” said Kafziel. “I am going to have to pay Blackburn Industries a visit. Those people must be warned.” said Kenan. And with that, Kenan left Kafziel’s mansion to go back home. The time mage looked at the warning from the news as a vision of an evil far greater than he’s ever faced before.
