Chapter 1 - New Home

This is the first chapter of the book.

Etsilla and the others have safely made it to Earth. Before they landed, Etsilla touched her pilot’s shoulder and said, “I think it should be best if we cloak the ship. We don’t want to scare any inhabitants.” “Right.” said Chetanzi as she did what Etsilla suggested. “We also must make sure not to land anywhere there are inhabitants around.” said Etsilla. The group disembarked onto the Earth and looked everywhere for a place to land. Fortunately, they found a patch of land surrounded by a forest where there we no people or animals roaming around. So, they landed there. “Etsilla, what do we do now?” said Chetanzi. “I think it be best that I check out this planet alone to see if it’s livable.” said Etsilla as she headed for the ship’s front gate. “Okay. Please be careful and return safely.” said Orion. “I will. I promise.” said Etsilla as she left the ship. The lone fire telepath screamed as she felt a strong breeze strike her. Etsilla then quickly exited the ship and closed the door behind her. With it being nighttime Etsilla conjured up a ball of flame to use as a light. She then walked into the forest to look for someone to speak to. Fortunately for her, she noticed a young African American woman sitting on a log by herself drawing on a sketch pad using the light of the moon. The girl was short. She was wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. Her black hair was tied into a ponytail. Without any thought, Etsilla approached the girl and said, “Greetings.” The girl looked at Etsilla and stared at her red skin, clothes and the ball of flame floating above her hand then screamed. “Get away from me!!” said the girl as she got up and ran away. “Wait!! Please wait!!” said Etsilla as she followed her. Etsilla chased the girl until they got to a hill. “Leave me alone!!” said the girl with a ponytail as she desperately climbed the hill but slipped and rolled back down. Etsilla used her telekinetic abilities to get the girl safely back onto the ground. “There. Are you alright?” said Etsilla. “Yeah.” said the girl with a frightened expression. “Please don’t be afraid. I am not going to hurt you.” said Etsilla. The girl wiped her face and said, “Okay. I believe you after saving me.” “How about we go back to where we were?” said Etsilla. “Of course.” said the girl as she went back to her campsite with Etsilla. “I apologize for scaring you earlier. That wasn’t my intention. I just wanted to talk to the first earthling I’d find.” said Etsilla. “I also apologize for screaming. The moment I saw you I thought you were The Devil trying to harvest my soul or something.” said the girl. “I am not this ‘Devil’ you’re speaking about.” said Etsilla. “Well, if you’re not the Devil then who exactly are you?” said the girl. “I am Etsilla, governor of the planet Nartakatur. What is your name?” said Etsilla. “My name is Patricia. Patricia Blackburn. Why are you here on Earth? Also, I forgot to ask how are you speaking English if you’re from another planet.” said Patricia. “We came here to find a new place to call home. We mean no harm to earthlings. Also, the moment we came onto your planet we read the minds of every inhabitant and discovered that Mandarin and English are humans’ two most popular languages to understand. I considered English was the easiest one to use.” said Etsilla. “I see and wait just a second. There are more of you?” said Particia. “Of course. “Would you like to meet them, Patricia Blackburn?” said Etsilla. “You can just call me Patricia. I would like to meet them if they promise not to hurt me.” said Patricia. “Patricia, I promise you that they won’t cause any harm to you.” said Etsilla. “If they do, I will run away again.” said Patricia. “I understand.” said Etsilla. Patricia packed up her belongings in her pack and followed Etsilla back to her ship. Etsilla touched her invisible vessel, and it became visible to the naked eye. Patricia gasped at the sight of Etsilla’s ship. “It’s huge.” said Patricia. At an instant, the ship’s entry gate opened and the other Nartakaturians came out. The band of survivors approached both Etsilla and Patricia. “So glad you are safe Etsilla.” said Orion. “Good to have made it back.” said Etsilla. Telnor looked at Patricia and said, “Who is this Etsilla?” “This is my new friend Patricia Blackburn.” said Etsilla. “Friend? We just met a few minutes ago. Also, I am not surprised that all of you look alike.” said Patricia. Telnor then approached Patricia and walked around her while inspecting her body. “So, you’re an earthling?” said Telnor. “Yes. Have any of you ever seen a human before?” said Patricia. “No. This is our first time.” said Telnor as she began touching Patricia’s behind. Patricia flinched and said, “Hey. Stop touching.” “Sorry about that Patricia. Telnor loves studying new things she sees. Telnor don’t touch Patricia again unless she wants to.” said Etsilla. “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” said Telnor. “It’s cool. Anyway, what are the rest of your names?” said Patricia. “I am Orion. I’m Etsilla’s advisor.” said Orion. “I’m Chetanzi. I am the pilot.” said Chetanzi. “I am Oryssa. I’m Etsilla’s maid.” said Oryssa. “And I am Telnor. I am a polymath. Studying everything is my passion.” said Telnor. “It’s nice to meet all of you.” said Patricia. “It’s so nice to meet you. Now Patricia, I forgot to ask where exactly we on Earth are. What were you writing down on that pad?” said Etsilla. “This is the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Massachusetts. And since you asked, I’ll show you what it is.” said Patricia as she showed Etsilla and the others a picture that she drew. It was a detailed image of a man holding a little girl onto the ground while beating her. “What is that, Patricia?” said Etsilla. “My father harming me when I was a child.” said Patricia as a tear rolled down her eye. Etsilla dried up Patricia’s face with her finger and said, “I am sorry Patricia. I know what it’s like to have a father like that.” “What do you mean?” said Patricia. “My father killed my mother. He massacred most of my people and then he tried to kill me.” said Etsilla. “Oh, that’s just wrong. Now that I heard that, I realized that you and I are so much alike. I haven’t seen my mother in years due to her being missing. I refuse to ever want to see my wretched father again. Sometimes I wish I could just wring his neck myself.” said Patricia as she clenched onto her sketch pad. “You’re right. I know how that feels.” said Etsilla. “Say Etsilla, I have an idea. How about you guys stay here at this place? I will come visit and bring you all food.” said Particia. “You do that for us?” said Etsilla. “Of course. I want you to accept that as a way of thanking you for saving my life.” said Patricia. “How do humans show gratitude?” said Etsilla. “Like this.” said Patricia as she embraced Etsilla. Etsilla embraced Patricia back. Telnor and the others joined in the embrace as well. The group of friends held onto each other until they let go. “That made me remember my mother.” said Etsilla. “If you don’t mind me prying, what was your mother’s name?” said Patricia. “Her name was Esmara.” said Etsilla as she sniffled while smiling. Patricia looked up at the moon and said, “Well Esmara, wherever you are now, thank you for raising an amazing daughter and being the mother that you were.” “Thank you, Patricia.” said Etsilla. “You are welcome. I should be going home.” said Patricia. “Okay.” said Etsilla. “I will be back tomorrow night.” said Patricia as she left Etsilla and her friends. The surviving Nartakaturians felt like matters we’re looking they settled on their new home.
