Chapter 2 - The Transfer

This is the second chapter of the book.

As promised, Patricia returned to Etsilla’s ship with food the very next night. “Hey guys, I’m back.” said Patricia. Etsilla and the others came out as the ship door opened and reappeared in front of Particia. “Welcome back Patricia. Is the food inside those small rectangular boxes you’re holding?” said Etsilla. “Yes. These are pizza boxes.” said Patricia. “What’s a pizza?” said Etsilla. “I think you have a lot to learn about the Earth. A pizza looks like this.” said Patricia as she placed the boxes on top of a tree stump, opened one of them and began to eat a slice of it. “Oh.” said Etsilla and the others as they grabbed a slice and ate as well. “I’m curious, what do Nartakaturians normally eat.” said Patricia. “Normally we just eat volcanic rocks. The heat from them helps us keep from running out of energy. When too low our fire powers are useless.” said Telnor. “Oh, I’m so sorry. If I had known that.” said Patricia. “It’s okay. You didn’t know. The hot food you gave us is enough for us anyway. We are grateful for your kindness.” said Etsilla. “Like I said before, it’s my thank you for saving me.” said Patricia. “Anyway, how are you feeling Patricia?” said Etsilla. “What do you mean?” said Patricia. “I read through your mind. You are deeply upset.” said Etsilla. “I am just fighting the memories of what my father put me through as a child.” said Patricia. “Well Patricia, we have an idea to help you with those feelings.” said Etsilla. “Which is?” said Patricia. “We’re going to give you some of our powers.” said Etsilla as she and her friends encircled around Patricia. “Your powers?” said Patricia as she looked around at the Nartakaturians. “Yes. We want to help our friend.” said Chetanzi. The Nartakaturians floated a foot off the ground and held hands. The fire telepath’s eyes glowed purple and flashes of pure energy came out of their bodies and entered Patricia’s. Patricia screamed as loudly as she could. It was as if she was being probed from the inside. When the process was over the Nartakaturians got back onto the ground and Patricia fell face-down. “Patricia. Are you alright?” said Oryssa as she helped Patricia back onto her feet. “Yes. Did it work?” said Patricia. “I’m sure it did. How about a little practice?” said Orion. “Of course.” said Patricia. Telnor placed a small pile of rocks on the ground. “Now Patricia, I want you to lift these rocks off of the ground without touching them.” said Telnor. “Okay.” said Patricia. Patricia placed one of her hands out in front of her. One of the rocks slightly moved over to the side. “Try to concentrate harder Patricia.” said Etsilla. Patricia closed her eyes while trying to move the target. At an instant, Patricia’s eyes opened, glowed purple and the rocks floated. “Yes!! I did it!!” said Patricia. “Well done, Patricia. Well done.” said Etsilla. “I must learn to control it. Please teach me.” said Patricia. “We will do that my friend.” said Etsilla. “I am not human anymore. Am I?” said Patricia. “No. You’ve become something else.” said Telnor. “What’s that?” said Patricia. “An esper. Isn’t that what humans call those with telekinetic abilities?” said Etsilla. “So that’s what I am. I am an esper.” said Patricia. And with that, Etsilla and the others continued to help Patricia master her powers knowing that the transfer was a success.
