Chapter 3 - InvasionA Chapter by johnub4This is the third chapter of the book.
For the next few weeks, Patricia spent every night improving her techniques
as an esper under training from Etsilla and the others. Fortunately for
Patricia, she moved on from lifting small rocks to large boulders. Everything
for Patricia and her friends seemed normal until one night. When Patricia returned
to see Etsilla, they had a private conversation in the forest. “What is it,
Patricia?” said Etsilla. “Etsilla. I need your help with something.” said
Particia. “What’s that my friend?” said Etsilla. “For the past week my family
has been nagging me about seeing my nightmares regarding my past abuse. I know
it has something to do with my powers. What is it?” said Patricia. “Before I
tell you, I want to ask if you are absolutely sure if you want to know this
information.” said Etsilla. “Yes.” said Patricia. “Your family has been
suffering through telepathic memory manipulation. It’s the deadliest technique among
us telepaths. We never use it because we fear it so. You have somehow learned
it.” said Etsilla. “I need to practice it. I must master that power. That’s why
I need your help.” said Patricia. “I will help you in this.” said Etsilla.
Patricia embraced Etsilla tightly and said, “Oh thank you so much.” “You are
welcome. How about we go eat with the others?” said Etsilla. “Of course.” said
Patricia as she followed Etsilla back to her ship. As Patricia and the others
were eating, they began to discuss the training. “Nartakaturians!” said
Etsilla. “Yes, your grace.” said the other Nartakaturians. “For tonight’s
training I ask that one of you volunteer to be a practice dummy for telepathic
memory manipulation.” said Etsilla. The other Nartakaturians gasped as they
heard what Etsilla said. “Patricia. You want to master that?” said Telnor.
“Patricia. Do you have any idea what that will do to you if you use it?” said
Oryssa. “I know and I don’t care. I must master this ability.” said Patricia.
“Okay. As you wish.” said Orion as he stood up. Patricia had stood up as well
and faced her assailant. “Patricia are you ready?” said Etsilla. “I am.,” said Patricia.
“Begin!!” said Orion. And with that, Patricia took out one of her hands in
front of her. At an instant, Orion began to scream due to an intense pain in
his cranium. Orion then fell face-up onto the ground unconscious. “It’s
working.” said Etsilla. While Orion was experiencing telepathic memory
manipulation, both of Patricia’s eyes began to shed blood. “I can’t manage
anymore.” said Patricia as she undid the spell on Orion. Orion woke up and got
back up to his feet. Etsilla approached Patricia to help her stand up and say,
“Are you okay?” “Yes.” said Patricia as she wiped the blood off her face. “Patricia,
I admire your persistence but maybe you should give up for the night.” said
Etsilla. “No. I want to try again.” said Patricia. “If you continue with this
then you will die.” said Etsilla. “I will die?” said Patricia. “Yes. Using
memory manipulation for too long can cause serious pain not only onto the
target but for the user too.” said Etsilla. “Please let me try again just one
more time.” said Patricia. “It’s smart to only use it once a day.” said Etsilla.
“Once?” said Patricia. “Yes. That is what I’m trying to help you understand.”
said Etsilla. “I see.” said Patricia. “I think it’s better that you rest in our
ship tonight. Oryssa, can you prepare a bed for Patricia?” said Etsilla. “Yes.
Right away your grace.” said Oryssa as she headed for the ship. “That would be
nice. I like that. Thank you.” said Patricia. As Etsilla helped Patricia over
to the ship, she stopped and looked up at the sky. “Your grace. What is wrong?”
said Chetanzi. “They’re here. They’ve come.” said Etsilla. “Who?” said Patricia.
“The other governors of the Eayila system. They found us.” said Etsilla. “How
can you tell that? There is nothing up there.” said Chetanzi. “Because I can
hear their thoughts. Even from this distance. Nartakaturians take Patricia into
the ship and lock her in it.” said Etsilla. “Wait! Lock me in?!!” said
Patricia. “I am sorry, but we must do that to protect you.” said Etsilla as she
carried Patricia and placed her inside her ship. “Etsilla. Please let me help
you with this.” said Patricia as tears rolled down her eyes. “Patricia. You are
in no shape to fight right now. I lost my mother. I lost most of my people. I
won’t lose you too.” said Etsilla. “Okay.” said Patricia. “Good.” said Etsilla
as the Nartakaturians did as she ordered them to. As the Nartakaturians geared
up to thwart the invasion, the other governors of the Eayila system have
already arrived on Earth in a single ship. © 2025 johnub4 |
