Chapter 5 - Reason

This is the fifth chapter of the book.

Alessandro and Natalie met up with Helena and the others at the end of the Massachusetts Avenue bridge by Beacon Street. They stood shoulder to shoulder ready to face the opposing army approaching them. Luckily for Alessandro and the witches, the mob stopped. Amon then approached them alone in his human form. “I better have a word with him. I will go alone.” said Alessandro. “Wait Jonathan. Your sword.” said Faith as she handed Alessandro his weapon. “Oh right.” said Alessandro as he took his sword and strapped it on his back. “Jonathan, you’re not going alone.” said Natalie as she followed. “He is my brother. This is between him and me. This is my fight.” said Alessandro. “Well, those witches are our former allies of us that we cherished like family.” said Helena. “What?” said Alessandro. “Remember the pictures on the wall in the basement? They are the ones in the photos.” said Faith. “Also, Jonathan, I am your girlfriend. We face things like this together. We make our decisions together. This is our fight.” said Natalie. “I understand.” said Alessandro as he noticed that Amon was standing six feet away from him. “I should’ve known that you’d come here. Alessandro.” said Amon. “Wait a minute. Alessandro? But your name is Jonathan. Right?” said Helena. “So, you’ve hidden your true name.” said Amon. “Jonathan, what does he mean?” said Natalie. “He’s telling the truth. My real name is Alessandro.” said Alessandro. “Why did you hide that? Even from me.” said Natalie. “Because I wanted to forget where I came from up to the point where I didn’t even want to use my real name. So, I gave you a false one. I apologize for lying to you all. Even you Natalie.” said Alessandro. “We don’t blame you.” said Sage. “Yeah. That must’ve been so hard for you to live with.” said Faith. “You’re not mad?” said Alessandro. “No. I hope that you’re not hiding anything else.” said Natalie. “I’m not.” said Alessandro. “Good. If you are then I will kill you myself with your own sword.” said Natalie. “Okay.” said Alessandro as he flinched. “You witches disgust me. Why won’t you just discard him to the side?” said Amon. “Because he is one of us. He will always be one of us.” said Zoe. “Alright Alessandro. I’m going to ask this once. Are you here to join us or fight us?” said Amon. “I can’t believe you’re asking that when you already know the answer.” said Alessandro. “I am giving you one last chance. I’ll consider this as forgiving you for what you did to my mother.” said Amon. “Like I care about you or that disgusting b***h of a parent.” said Alessandro. “So, you’ve given me your answer?” said Amon. “I am here to fight you, and you will lose.” said Alessandro. “Okay charge!! Destroy them!!” said Amon as he signaled with his right arm. Amon then stepped aside for his army to pass and sat down on the side of the bridge. “Here they come.” said Natalie. “Zoe, take Natalie and hide her somewhere.” said Helena. “But…,” said Natalie. “Your powers are still dormant. You’re not able to fight. Now get going.” said Helena. “Okay.” said Natalie. “Right. Now hold on tight.” said Zoe as she grabbed Natalie and flew away. Alessandro and the others stood ready to face the senseless onslaught. As the opposing army got to a closer proximity, Helena said, “Faith now!!” “Stop!!!” said Faith as she used her time magic to freeze the group of witches and demons. “Jonathan, use your plunder ability now!!” said Helena. “You got it.” said Alessandro as he attempted to absorb as many of the opposing group’s powers. As hope seemed to kindle, Alessandro found himself falling to his knees and the spell ended. “Wait. What’s going on?” said Sage. “I think he’s absorbed too many abilities. If he takes in more, he’ll overstuff himself and could go berserk.” said Helena. “Jonathan are you alright?” said Sage as she approached Alessandro. “Ha! I’m better than ever. Faith, end your spell.” said Alessandro. “Wait. Why?” said Faith. “Because I’m going to stop them on my own.” said Alessandro as he got up on his feet as well as took off his shirt and drew his sword. “But.” said Faith. “Faith let’s listen to him. We can protect the crowd on this side while Jonathan takes down the army.” said Helena. “Okay.” said Faith as she did what Alessandro said. And with that, the opposing army continued to charge. Alessandro transformed into his demon form. With the use of his newfound abilities, he defeated every single demon and witch that came right at him. During the fight, Alessandro chuckled. It was as if the chaos around him was a comedy film that he watched on television. When the last foe fell to their feet Alessandro stared at Amon. “Alright Amon before I trample you, I will be asking you a question. I expect an answer.” said Alessandro. “Go ahead.” said Amon. “Who was it that gave you the idea to do this?” said Alessandro. “I won’t answer. I will show you.” said Amon. “What do you mean?” said Alessandro. “Take a look at the air.” said Amon. Alessandro did what Amon had said and noticed that someone sitting on what appeared to be a wheelchair floating in the air was approaching. Alessandro waited for the unknown person to land firmly on the ground. He then watched the individual wheel himself over to Alessandro until he was at least six feet away. At the same time, Helena and the others stood next to Alessandro. “I’m not surprised that the one responsible for this would be you Ace.” said Helena. “Ace? You’re my father.” said Alessandro in an angry tone. Ace remained silent in his human form as he stared at Alessandro and the others. “I can’t believe I’m staring at the b*****d who killed my mom.” said Natalie. “So, you’re the one who kept giving my guys a problem and yeah, I remember that b***h Matilda. She refused to give up her body to me. So, I took her out. I am also the one who murdered your loser father too. No one deserved to have her.” said Ace. “You’re a monster. As much as I want to bash your head in, I must let go of wanting to end you. I’m done living for vengeance.” said Natalie. At an instant, Natalie’s eyes glowed and a flash of lightning rolled. “What’s happening?” said Alessandro. “Natalie’s awakening. She got her powers.” said Helena as she smiled. “Ha! You really think your pathetic witch powers will stop me?” said Ace. “The only one who will be asking questions here will be me. I need to know why you would cause this pointless destruction and why are you in a wheelchair yourself.” said Alessandro. “You want to know why Alessandro? I will tell you. The reason for that is because humans don’t deserve to live. They’re nothing but insignificant bugs that want to cause misery and suffering to others including us.” said Ace. “What the hell do you mean by that?” said Alessandro. “I’ll start from the beginning. Your mother and I were human once and lived back in the seventeenth century. Your mother was practicing witchcraft while I was working job to job with the richest families in the city. Even back then I was fooling around with any woman I could get. Once the witches we’re discovered I was forced to watch them get stomped on, spat on, stoned and had fire thrown at them including your mother. The worst part of that atrocity, your mother was pregnant with you and your brother before she died. For having a relationship with your mother, I was hanged. Because of the wanting to bring vengeance against humanity, Lady Satan brought us back as demons. That’s how you both even got your powers to begin with. And to answer that other question, that damn witch Helena shot me in the leg with silver bullets. I no longer can f*****g walk. Our Lady of Hell gave you power, a life of immortality and this is how you repay her?” said Ace. Alessandro stood back, gasped and fell to his knees as he heard the reason behind Ace’s actions.
