The School Bell

The School Bell

A Poem by Jonathan
"

Written to try and process emotions, feelings and thoughts from a while ago that I can't forget or deal with.

"

I stand at that cold metal railing

I want to scream and cry,

To let them know what they did to me

To relive every word and every lie.

But I can’t.

They can never know how I feel

How I dread the day ahead

How I wish I could run and never turn back

How I long for the safety of my bed

It begun with a snigger

Maybe the odd remark or poke

They thought it was harmless

To them it was just a joke

But it wasn’t.

They laugh and they play

Today’s water bottle stealing day

I’ll never find it, it’s gone forever

And with it a little bit of me goes away

So, I stand here today by this cold metal railing

And I dream of what could have been

They took me from myself and now I’m an empty shell

So shall I say goodbye or face the dreaded school bell.

I dont normally review poems but, i am starting to do more of them as time goes by. So with this piece i found that you were portraying a young child who dreaded his day at school because of bullying and the school bell in his mind was the trigger alarm for it all to commence. I pctured many sad scenes in this piece as i went along. The fact that you mention the water bottle bit comes across that the boy is in a viscous routine which he longs to get out off. Making me also think 'how many water bottles will it take until....enough is enough'

A sad but well written piece.
To say i liked it would sound wrong. So what i will say is that the message in this piece came across loud and clear.
