It's What's Expected

You decide what path to take

It’s what’s expected of me.

Go to school and get good grades,

Pass the test, a Jack of all Trades,

Don’t question the lesson,

Or you’ll stop progression.

Join the team,

Follow the regime.

Take your place in line,

Don’t let them hear you whine.

Now rinse and repeat,

Push forward with no retreat.

Tougher competition and higher education,

I’m sensing a trend, A monotonous repetition.

Life planned out without a doubt,

Taking the premeditated route,

But I choose to go astray,

I will do things my way.

I’m no robot built to follow,

While inside your box I'm out the window

No strings attached, roaming free,

That’s what I expect of me.
