Technobabble

Technobabble

A Poem by Jorge Martinez
"

Now comes the Age of Homo Technicus.

"

This poem is important to us.

It is being recorded for your convenience:

I stood observing

through the window treatments

of my apartment home

the workperson

cleaning the water feature outside.

The squirrels were playing

in the plant material

while two birds flew

in a secure and upright position

toward the weather pattern above.

In the early morning hour

the precip activity commenced

and the vehicles in the thoroughfare

carefully negotiated the cuidado piso mojado

through the traffic calming devices

installed for our protection there last week.

Utilizing the best intentions

I try to comprehend

what the hell happened,

when did we learn computereze?

Error: This cannot happen.

Now rebooting.

God, the opening and closing stanza’s are so cool. Especially the opening one. Whole thing is beautiful, I love your word choices. This is one of those poems that is satisfying on the tongue to read aloud.

Ha! This is very clever. Describing your scene with technical vocabulary. It has a humorous, but also lamentable tone. I love the 'cuidado piso mojado'. Brings to mind the wet floor signs at the office.

I have been writing poetry all my life, but I never realized it until recently. One day something happened inside my head, and I noticed that I had been writing poems and limericks and vignettes all .. more..
