Suicide Ballot

Suicide Ballot

A Poem by Jessica J
"

I wrote this when I was about 15 years old, (I am 26 now) but I love it and it is one of the best pieces I have written, but would love to revisit it and rework it.

"

Staring down inside of me,

The Blackness overcoming all,

The darkened, hard eternity,

The odd and evil call.

The knife is cold as steel

Bold, harsh, and cruel.

This certain pain I will feel,

Will end this lonely duel.

Shivers feeling like the death,

I hold it in my hand,

As I feel all my breath,

Leaving as I stand.

For everyone that hates it,

The life I take is mine.

Tonight I will sit;

Death and I will dine.

I love this poem. I have so been in that place many, many times. The writing here is flawless, the rhyming is superlative, the entire piece is a treasure. It's going in my favorites.

Nice to revisit, but no need to rework. I think it conveys very powerful emotions with a harsh, straightforward, raw emotion. So sorry you felt like this when you were 15. Glad you decided to write about it instead of doing it. Nice piece!

This is truly powerful! I know, I have sunk to those god awful lows in this lifetime. But it is so funny to look back on them, and see just what you've learnt. Great write.
