Dragon Ride

Dragon Ride

A Poem by butterfly
"

life should be like a dragon ride

"
i would be a nun if I didn’t have to wear the outfit
in jeans I can still feel the holy spirit
My love for Him is king
He is everything
but I got that wonder lust
looking for more than a diamond ring
I need the guy from the fiction stories I read
Make me feel I am flying on a dragon in the sky
the queen will no longer hide
Because you see I am a butterfly
I am not the collectible for a jar
I am not the one to be tangled in your web
I must be the one you rise for and stay with to watch the sunset
i need that love that will light up the dark
i thought thats what i felt every time I was in his arms
but he was just mere charms
its hard for me to fit in with reality
now the stranger days are coming as told from the prophecy
trying to rewrite my story
working on the poetry
with that ending of sweet destiny
I had a dream and my lover is eternity
I dont know what it means
I love fantasies
unicorns, dragons, phoenix, eclipse
the feeling of his lips
from so long ago
even though love burns me
I am still the fair maiden
I am still whole
He guides me
He understands and everyday saves my soul
So when its in His time
I know love will enter my life
until then just enjoy the dragon ride, butterfly

This poem is bursting with energy, authenticity, and a magical kind of longing. It’s like a prayer woven into a fairytale, where faith meets fantasy and the speaker refuses to settle for less than soul-shaking love. The contrast between nun-like devotion and wanderlust in jeans is brilliantly playful — it shows a modern woman trying to walk between heaven and earth, reality and romance. Lines like "I need the guy from the fiction stories I read" and "I am not the collectible for a jar" strike fiercely feminist and dreamy notes at once — claiming agency without losing wonder.

There’s a charming rebellion here: against conformity, against superficial love, and against the idea that magic is only for stories. The final line — “until then just enjoy the dragon ride, butterfly” — is not just a mic drop; it’s a motto for every soul who refuses to give up faith or imagination.

Thanks for the review Neha!
"I am not the collectible for a jar"----
Amen to that.
And we can be just as spiritual in jeans, drinking in a bar, as being in church in dress pants and a tie.

This is an absorbing piece of writing.
