Enchantment

Enchantment

A Poem by JR

They try and tell me there’s no magic in the world

no illusionists, no conjurers or magi

but I tell you I’ve been useless all damn day

wrapped as I am in my memory of my touch

since I woke, the feel of her so soft and dark

beneath the rose of my fingertips

the smell of her hair, when she smiles

into her shoulder and turns her face away;

I’ve been useless all day

so maybe there’s still a sparkle,

a little enchantment left in this alchemical world

after all.
