I Know Who You AreA Poem by Jason AgainThis is about my losing my violent tendencies I once had.
I am in the dark and in a trance. Nothing near me seems to live. The voices call out from my past Of evil and thanklessness of no end. I throw my fist into the air With hope that it will catch a cheek. I draw back standing with a daring glare. A glare so sharp it could cut wounds deep. I know someone is standing close But I cannot see to know their name. I hear the humming of a tune I know. I drop my offense and my fists are tame. "I know who you are," I whisper gently, "And I'm glad you left me, I might add" "Coming back to you has been oh so tempting But I figure without you I ain't doing too bad." And with that my old friend took his leave. I have heard nothing from him since. But I'm glad he is gone, because I am free. I am void of pain and violence. © 2008 Jason Again |
