Peak into a summer long pastA Poem by Jon Roggie
A simple recollection.
A memory of your own to truly understand. Courtyard of the hostel, gathering eyes, just by having the thirty of us grouping. Some the substitute parents, those we finally got to know and maybe understand. The rest of us, still children, learning and growing. Short summer in someone's land. Fourth of July, most of used to the fireworks. and simple day at home. Instead while friends and family, just waking up and greeting the day. We sang. Songs from our country, which suddenly seemed more dear. More faces appearing in the windows, and once we had grown silent. Bit of respect, first a simple clap, followed by a cheer. © 2013 Jon RoggieAuthor's Note
