Spend a day on the rail

I mean public transpo.

A all day pass gives some insight.

Hour long trip one way.

Do it back and forth,
  only for the day.

Place for some to be,
  dodging the heat or the cold.

Others just want to talk.

They have no other place to go.

How can you not respond?
