Drained

Drained

A Poem by Jon Roggie

To accomplish so much,
and see the memory is gone.

Takes so much away.

Repetition strengthens memories.

Enough to make you scream.

Repeated explanations and introductions.
Each more painful.

Keep the smile on my face.

Try not to show the sadness and frustration.

Never let him see the pity,
to be remembered for a moment.

Let the effort drain me,
if only to repeat the creation of an illusion.

Illusion of a moment of normalcy.

unfortunately i can relate this now to my dad...he loops a lot...used to be so sharp...has moments...but i get frustrated seeing him this way....

you really capture the feeling...

i really like the style of your poetry..you are concise, you have good line breaks.
and there is such a flow with the words that creates a flow in the mind.

nicely done. i can't believe you aren't getting way more looks at these really strong poems.
