Mood to match the music

Mood to match the music

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Excuse me while I pause.

Only for a moment.

Just to listen.

Do you hear it?

More importantly,
do you feel it?

For the split second,
does it take you away?

Bring memories to the surface?

Emotions swirl with the tunes,
reminders of what was forgotten?

Now,
there it is.

Faint glimmer in the eyes,
wrinkle of the brow.

Time to pause.

Let you listen to the song.

old songs bring me back to a particular moment, almost always...
music is like that for me..snippets in time and space...and i like how you spaced the lines here.

i pause often...and when i am with certain people i might say..."listen to this, remember this one? remember what you were doing the first time you heard it?

This one connects a bit more. Just doesn't need explanations. Again, thank you sir.
Normally, I don't go for this type of seemingly unstructured poetry. However, this piece seems to accurately describe how I feel when sit back and listen to music. For the wonderfully short time that the song lasts, I am swept away, and nothing else exists. This is short, sweet and nicely done.
