Memories

Memories

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Just live in the past.
What we remember is easily changed.
Our minds tend to be a bit selective.

Simple.

Let life continue,
and focus on an image of a day long gone.

Something was forgotten.

Living each of those moments.

How else did they become worthwhile to remember?

Don't get me wrong,
I have many great memories.

One thing I try to remember is simple.

I still have time to create more.

Sound advice my friend. In youth, the smallest mistake can be crushing, until we hear a new song and become engrossed in that or other distractions, yet it is only when we get older that we begin to see these mistakes for what they are, learning curves.
Your last line is beautiful. My Mum is suffering from dementia and gets upset at forgetting things, when she should be thinking more positively and coming to the conclusion you have here, we share, we live, we create more and more memories. Superb write my friend.

Gee
Great last line Jon, everyday should be spent trying to create worthwhile memories not just for ourselves but all of those we hold dear

We can help determine what kind of memories we leave behind us. Hopefully good ones. Thanks!
