Mom's BirthdayA Poem by Jon Roggie
She turns 76 in a few hours.
Now, I could take advantage of the various birthday specials, but I cringe. Tonight, I put together a lemon cheesecake, frozen. Tomorrow it will be topped with cherries. I realize she would enjoy a store-bought. Tomorrow, a simple omelet to start the day. Bacon, gouda, cheddar, and a side of hash browns. She does like an omelet. Maybe a bagel. Her choice. After that, I will manage to skip to dinner. Smoke tri-tip roast, with grilled shrimp on the side. Various sides, fresh rolls being one of them. Yes, I realize this sounds like a menu. She's my mom.
