Am I weary?

Am I weary?

A Poem by Jon Roggie

Friend of mine mentioned this.
 Noticed something,
which apparently was seeping into my writing.

Weary,
 but hope.
She was correct.

I am tired,
 and an eternal pessimist,
but I live my life as a duality.

I see potential.

We can do better.

As a pessimist,
 you see the worst.
It doesn't mean you have to accept it.

I get to be cranky.
Seeing how bad things are,
  and shrug my shoulders.

Time to fix it.

Another day.

So,
 yes,
  I am weary,
  but I still continue.

There is always hope.

My friends give me a few pointers.
Nicely honest reveal told in a self-deprecating way. We all have these little balancing acts going on in our heads, trying not to let the nastiness of outside strife get into our heads & then we're seeing everything in a dark way. I have to pump my attitude back up every morning of every day becuz there's plenty to be bummed about or sick & tired of! You've nailed it perfectly here! I love it when a writer identifies something we're all thinking & feeling, but presents it as if it might be some rare personal defect! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Too often it is hard to realize you are not the only one. Most of us have something waiting, and if .. read more
i can relate somewhat to this...i am not an eternal pessimist but i do get very tired----and it is harder to be an optimist when this happens.

Being a pessimist is not that bad. The worst thing to happen is everything goes right.
