TotemsA Poem by Jon Roggie
Some cultures have moved pass the idea.
I have not. It makes for an easy description. I used to be the Coyote. I was the Trickster. Teach by slight of hand. Simple misdirection used to keep emotions in check. Slowly changing, I had no choice. I am now the turtle. Personally, I prefer tortoise. Moving slowly, I carry the world on my back. Supposedly wise, I can't help but glance from side to side. I may be a tortoise, but the coyote is still inside, waiting to play.
