Waste

Waste

A Poem by Julia Ledo

Oh if we didn't have to sleep
If the moon didn't rise
And make the lights
Burn spots in our eyes
What time there would be
And all I could do
Like sail all the oceans
And compare all the blue
Read every book to ever exist
Write novels in a week or two
Oh if only I didn't have to sleep
For there is so much here to do
I'd climb all the mountains
Count every star
And I'd always make time
To be where you are
I'd cross every border
Note every line
Just to stand next to you
For a moment in time
But we both have to sleep
And do so with haste
And oh the time we have lost
What a waste what a waste
