Dawning on Me

Dawning on Me

A Poem by Julia Ledo

You create a new dawn with the sound of your voice
Candy colored skies painted with every word
Strewn out clouds with a whisper
Sunset begins with your lips
Moonrise in your eyes
Shooting stars in your kiss
But a black hole in your heart
That my dawns, my skys, my clouds
Can not fill
God no matter how hard I try
My candy colored skies are not enough
The shooting stars just fizzle out
My dawns just don't measure up
And I find
That as you create a new day for me at the sound of your voice
I have not made one sun rise for you
I pray you find
Someone
Who pushes a whole galaxy into existence
With one exhale of their lungs
And you revel in it as much as I did in
Your every dawn

You f*****g suck for writing this.

I hate feelings, and you make me have them. And this poem captures inadequacy TOO WELL. Uncomfortably well. I feel like everybody has these as their deepest darkest thoughts at some point or another, the feeling of not being good enough for the person we love. I like the selfless twist in the end though, that they find someone who is as amazing to them as they were to you. Stunning. Always.

This physically hurt me in the end. Great Job.
