Uncle VladA Poem by Julianthose mythical childhood memories!Uncle Vlad
My widowed Grandpa’s second wife Was appointed the Royal Tailor. Her skills impressed the great Tepes, Some called Vlad the Impaler.
And Uncle Vlad, as I called him, Each one of us befriended, And walked us through his gardens When the working day had ended.
But savage hordes of heartless men Attacked our kingdom's neighbors, Raped and pillaged, raged and killed, with arrows and with sabers.
Yet when they thought to enter And to pillage our small lands, Fear struck them and quenched their lusts, And they left with empty hands.
I asked Vlad what had made them run, And scream and lose their senses. He smiled and pointed to the yard, “Bad neighbors make good fences.” © 2023 JulianReviews
