My Mother's handsA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Dedicated to my late dear mumxx
When she died
We held it tight She squeezed so tight Then sadly gave up her fight Those hands I will remember so Not just the brown spotted ones I know I remember her younger hands As a child picking me up from sand Taking me to schools first day Or bathing me clean at end of day I recall the way she stood so tall When I was a child so small Her nature soft and gentle Like a reassuring rose Without a nettle though She never spanked or hit me so She never rose her voice to me Was quiet and calm Like an angel to me What did I do to deserve a mother So sweet so good I don't really know But her hands held me through Fear and worry so They held my babies one by one She held and then let go My mothers hands I'll miss them forever This I surely know © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
