Portrait paintedA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)A painting or portrait my friend did of me on holidays five or so years ago writing it from his or artists perspective
Turn up that nose
Cover up your fatty chin Let me see the glint in eye As your parody of Life within As your angled jaw Retreats for only me No don't smile Pose gently now Relax a while And sip a little gin Or whatever we had That night it's plainly Wine so Let the merry parody Of love begin I know you not Mona Lisa dear But hey the time is near To see what lies beneath Blue eyes And wondrous jack and Jill Beguile I need to paint To reacquaint And see the girl within The years have not always been Kind But what strange beauty lies maybe Deep within In your strange blind mind So smile and gaze In purple rays And my pencil Will begin An artist knows well His chosen subject Be it boat or ocean or House or hill or girl or that plain Woman who is aging With that hidden odd Unexpected grin © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)Reviews
