Stars at midnightA Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)In memory of all my favourite stars passed Try to listen to Joan baez 'house of the rising sun'
They live on
In the myriads of black and White reels If we go there at night To the old store room At MGM or warner or Where that famous lion roars We may just see A ghostly whim A puff of smoke A gin and tonic poured Around the bar Of ghostly stars They have long since left Our earthly home But they live on As the tape unwinds Into our mindset eyes Sinatra Lombard Taylor's two And newman and all the rest We love Like Munro, bogart and the ghosts Of others too Till that speel of tape Can no longer unwind They come out To toast a drink In moonlights eyes To toast to them all Those stars I love Their puff of smoke is proof enough They will live on in their fans Hearts and eyes Even though they all took Such sad demise © 2017 Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere) |
