teen mum

teen mum

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)

Gently rocking the little one to sleep

Traffic buzzed outside

The light was dim

The night lite had done its job

Dim light

Just like mother had said it would

All that was missing was

Her, her beloved mum

now gone

To help her rock her child to sleep

Her mum

Would understand

Her turmoil

Her need to get out and have fun

Instead at 17 she was alone

With her bub

Her tears formed

They fell down

One by one

To

Wet the babies eyes

They both looked at each other

In surprise

The baby grinned

Her life began

The bond was there

She would always care

she knew this now

Made me cry...tender,poignant, deeply moving vignette of teen mother rocking her child- she is a child herself needing her own mother. Madonna silhouette in the "dim light", tears falling "one by one" on her baby's eyes. Heart-breakingly sad but beautiful imagery. "The bond was there." Magnificent work.
