Burning off

Burning off

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

True in Australia As I speak

"
It's just turned
Merry spring down here
They say now the
Weathers clear
But it's bush fire season
Already marked near here
The burning smoke
The air that. Chokes
I turn my air conditioner remote
My windows shut
At night as dog turns into
Ball of sleepy snorty fluff
My windpipes still catch
The smokey air
As I try to get to sleep
It's bushfire. Season
Aussie deep
And only second day of spring
What befalls us all in summer even
But I wouldn't live anywhere else
Even in Aussie bushfires season
