A song 🎵 I wrote for thee

A song 🎵 I wrote for thee

A Poem by Julie McCarthy (juliespenhere)
"

Added greensleaves one of my faves

"
I wrote you a song
Tonight
The notes they all danced
Like gypsies
Drunk with love
Under bright moon

Spent with their love
Their kisses bade goodnight
The wind in those trees
Sang sweet lament words
Notes all through
The cool night

With the cry of the wolves
My pillow was wet
And far far away
A young soldier
Woke to the sound
Of a bugle
With his rifle
Close by his bed

He still looks at my picture
His heart all torn up
Like ammo it’s ready to
Explode

My heart will be waiting
For him
Surely
One day he’ll return

Till then I’ll sing him his song
Out of tune say strangers to me
Till the dogs Yelp in unison
And the notes fly up
To the highest point of tree
I’ll sing that song to thee

This lovely poem starts out sounding like a celebration of love and then sounds wistful and lonely and a little sad, but hopeful that the soldier will return. The music is nice.
