Unrequitted FantasyA Poem by PhoenixThis is a story of a woman who happens to deeply love a man, but she cannot tell him how she feels and her feeling for him cannot be reciprocated. So all she can do is imagine and ask - what if?
As the stars were shining bright across the stillness of the night
I see your silhouette in my window pane My heart pounds faster in every step you take And my breathing just screams out for longing I feel your deep brown eyes looking through the depths of my soul As i eagerly anticipate your manly arms around me At the back of my mind, I hesitate to give in But my body is too weak to fight What makes me so spellbound towards this Mysterious beauty? When in fact he is as ordinary as i am Then i came to realize It was more than attraction or the magic of communication by that means Standing before me is a man that i love Why I love him I cannot explain In spite of holding back and not acknowledging the desire The outpours of love comes surging in i long to tell him, to tell him how i feel Just this one night, that's all it takes I breathed deeply as I gather my courage to explain But when I open my eyes, i see only myself Staring blankly at the bleak starless sky Tears of pain roll down my eyes As I come in terms with reality That the man that i long to be with Will be nothing more than a memory And the love that i so fervently cherish Will not be more, but will forever be Unrequitted.... © 2014 Phoenix |
