Late Blooming Duet

Late Blooming Duet

A Poem by Vincent Makhathini

...mezmerizing the depths of my soul
Behind closed curtains we dance to get to our
foes
You're hitting the spot, river of sweat flowing
down the back
Its the tango, no it feels like jamming to the
peaceful sound of soul sounds
You're my base guitar, together we create the
blues
With the touch of African drums that keeps the
rhythm fluctuating
as I strike a chord on the base the two blend as
we do
It sounds like a gong being struck by a bag of light
feathers
Nobody elese fathoms,this unknown dance
We prolly are the Adam and eve of time
Tasting the forbidden fruit and have fallen
Yet becoming more aware of the true self trapped
within
Our bodies scream in shock and pleasure
As we squirm, as the tortuous way leading to the
Lesotho mountains
The cold has vanished, and deep inside the dance
lives on
The tranquil sounds maintain the peace and
connection
Just as the love is felt even when miles away from
the lover
The love burns inside, wanting to escape like lava
