Litterbugs

Litterbugs

A Poem by Katrina Mckeown
"

I hate when I travel anywhere and see soo much litter around especially in and around country parks and kids play areas. I mean like bottles of alcohol and scrunched up tinfoil drugs etc

"
Bottles of all shapes and sizes
You use hedges and bushes to disguise them
Then wrappers and packets of all sorts that you keep throwing on to those hot-spots

Then it gets even worse this littering curse
As you even through out your own household refuse at lay-bys that are near country parks decorating the world with your excessive mess it’s obvious you couldn’t care less

Poor kids at their park might get cut on the glass
Your dog poo that you leave is spreading disease
Not to mention what others might think cause your litter does stink !

Those who don’t care for the environment, spoil it for everyone else. Thank goodness there are those who give up their time to clean it up. I hate seeing wrappers and bottles dumped. Everyone should clear up their own mess. Well said Katrina.

I hate this as well...I watch as a car ahead of me, window opens, and MacDonald's boxes and wrappers are just thrown out of the car onto the highway.
Where is the conscience in that?

it is something that is hard to understand. keep a bag for it in the car ... take it inside and use the can in the kitchen .. i use to live in a very rural spot in the Ozarks .. probably 40 cabins in a 50-60 sq mile area. the main gravel cutting into our spot was bordered on one side by steep mountain side and the other by even steeper drop offs into the holler. we started a neighborhood watch with our sheriffs and one of the activities we initiated was a yearly road cleanup ... Katrina ... you wouldn't believe the amount and kinds of stuff we hauled out of there that first year ... tires, toilets, tvs, sinks, and so many bottles, cans and just paper .... i since have moved but am proud that the Watch continues the road cleanup .. just having finished one last month. V2 L2 is quite the run on ... hard to find the rhythm for me .. but i appreciate the frankness and having litter brought to the forefront of me nog today ... nice to meet you by the way :)

Yes for sure ☺️
Some people just never give a thought to the litter they drop… goodness knows what tourists may think !
It’s our kids play areas and area’s where we walk our dogs that really gets to me as dogs dirt left laying around just outside of children’s play parks /areas yuk also broken glass as kids and animals could get hurt!
