Longing

Longing

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Longing for Summer and loving Spring.

"

                                      Longing

My winter shadow heart is in longing

Waiting, waiting…for I know not what.

For Hope and Warmth’ Then the light!

Hope in warmth of safety in belonging

Blessed by a wild outside place I wait

Eager for mature blackberry blossoms

Enveloped back lit jewels of early summer.

Now sunshine song streams along my space

The gift of vision gatekeeper lilts along

I see you swallowtail butterfly within vision.

Your grace catches my heart beat deep within.

Hope carries loves beauty and lives in your wings.

Sunshine warmth nurtures filling my soul.

I imagine the filling the strengthening.

Light of the world bring the growing

The vine of this life awaits a harvest.

Spring swelling buds will appear.

 Life brings inspiration even as

My eyes look and hands reach out

While the reality of the outside

Not yet bringing the hope of summer

Cannot mar the glittering inner joy

Winter root stocks dormant and still

Slowly spring is trembling to life.

especially appreciate your closing line, Ms. Van Kurin! Winter creates our Spring longing doesn't it!? I guess we can be thankful for it for that ;) a few days ago I woke to a thin covering of snow and by 2 PM the temps hit 70+ ... go figure. we quickly reverted to our more or less norms. I will take your message with me today, Kathy ... Spring will "... tremble into life" :) love and joy to ya!

Hopefully you are in the throes of spring. I am late arriving for your beautiful poem Kathy. Your lines are so full of hope, warmth and light. Yes, the winter shadow does bring longing for rebirth and growth. Such a delight to read your eloquent words. Have a beautiful Wednesday dear poet.

Love this. The peach tree here has just started to blossom, and I suspect blackberries cannot be far behind. ~Jim
