Colleywog’s Trip Out Of This World

This is a story about Colleywog a little alien boy who is 6 years old and lives with his mom Allywaya and dad Farnakie on the planet Zorp.

Now even though Colleywog is small he has a very big imagination and loves to go on adventures.  His parents worry about him though because he is such a little boy.  He doesn’t like it when he is told he is too little because it makes him sad.  His parents  keep a close eye on him and don’t like him to wonder too far away.

Today was one of those days that was just right for going on an adventure.  The 2 suns were shining brightly and there was a warm breeze in the air.  The blue sky was free of clouds and looked like a big ocean.

Colleywog loved Zorp but he knew that there were other interesting planets that he had read about in books and had always wanted to travel to.  Earth was one of them.  He knew a little bit about Earth.  They only have one sun and he wondered how warm it would be there.

The space shuttle for Earth was just down the street from where Colleywog lived and he made up his mind that he was going to go for a visit.  Out of his yard he skipped and made his way to the station.  This was going to be a wonderful day for an  adventure.  The space shuttle arrived and everyone waiting got on.  He went to the very back of the shuttle and took his seat.  He was so excited and couldn’t wait to get to Earth.

The trip only took a few hours and the ride was fun for Colleywog.  He had never taken the shuttle without his parents and he felt so grown up.  There were many ideas swimming through his head about what he would like to do once he got to Earth.

The shuttle landed and everyone hurried to get off.  Colleywog stepped off the shuttle and was ready for his big adventure.   Everything looked so different from Zorp.  The buildings, the people and the cars and busses.  Colleywog didn’t know where to begin so he just started walking down the street.  He walked for a long time before he came upon a park.  He could hear laughing and singing and was very curious.  He saw lots of children playing and having a good time.  He wanted to join them so bad but wasn’t sure they would like him or want to talk to him.  Colleywog was sitting on a bench watching the kids play wishing he could join in the fun.

The children were playing and having so much fun that Colleywog had decided that he would try to make friends with the children.  Shyly he walked toward the kids playing.  He said hello to  them but they didn't seem to understand him.  See the thing is that Colleywog spoke Zorpian and the children spoke English but Colleywog was determined to find a way to talk to the children.  They were not afraid of him and he wasn’t afraid of them either.  He smiled at the kids and they smiled back so he knew that they were friendly. The were playing a game that Colleywog had played on Zorp. He found out that the children called this game baseball and not wobbybat as he called it.  Colleywog was very good at playing wobbybat.  The children had Colleywog join in with them and they all had fun playing the game.  Next they decided to play hopscotch as they called it but Colleywog knew this game as hoppyhip.  It seems that earth children and the kids from Zorp arent really that different and play a lot of the same games.

The afternoon flew by as Colleywog and the children has so much fun.  It was time for Colleywog to go home even though he didn’t really want to.  He knew that his parents would start to worry about him if he wasn’t home soon.  Colleywog walked back to the shuttle station and boarded the  space shuttle for Zorp.  A few hours later he was back home in his backyard.  His mother called him in for dinner and Colleywog told her all about his big adventure.

His mother said to him that he had such a big imagination for such a little boy.  Colleywog agreed and said that tomorrow he was going on another adventure and it was going to be out of this world.

I think this is a very cute story that's perfect for the little ones. The lesson about how we're all the same is most valuable. Nice work, Kathi.
