Painful Reminders

Painful Reminders

A Poem by TheKaylaPup
"

I wrote this at the end of eighth grade, I had just converted from Christianity to Paganism, and I felt rejected and crap. Funny thing is it turned out just fine, I has a little melodramatic.

"

I'm lost, in a void of despair,
Trapped, in a place I don't belong,
I curl up in a little ball and begin to cry,
Why must everything look the same?
When everything has changed,
My bible sits on my nightstand,
A painful reminder of what I used to be,
What I sill pretend to be,
My favorite Christian song starts playing,
But it no longer makes me happy,
Now it’s just another painful reminder,
I look around my room,
The walls are still covered with drawings,
A poster, and a cross I never took down,
Why must everything that used to make me happy,
Now just being me down,
I get up,
Change the song,
Take down the cross,
And hide away the bible,
I take out my Book of Shadows,
And hold it close,
Everything will be all right,
I'm not trapped in a world I don't belong,
Merely lost in a world I haven't discovered.

I really like this piece because you realise that even though your changing who you are by changing your religion you are the same person and you have to open up your heart to a different world in a sense....
