I Am...

I Am...

A Poem by Kaylee Marie
"

A poem I wrote for my English class

"

I am a hopeful girl who expects too much

I wonder if the world will ever be at peace

I hear the gunfire, it's universal

I see the people pleading, begging

I want the fighting to stop!

I am a hopeful girl who expects too much

I pretend to be okay with what is going on

I feel the pain of the world in my mind

I touch the shell of the bombed building

I worry that we will self-destruct

I cry in silence for all the lives that have been lost

I am a hopeful girl who expects too much

I understand that we are not perfect

I say we could work towards peace, if we only tried

I dream some day war will be unheard of

I try to forget about the devistation

I hope I won't have to forget, for it won't exist

I was a hopeful girl who expected too much.

Very nice! Good flow and meaningful. I especially liked the reuse of "I am a hopeful girl who expects too much" I almost felt like the poem ended with at "I hope I won't have to forget, for it won't exist." Enjoyed this!
