petal pollution

petal pollution

A Poem by mikayla baldwin

picking petals of the rose
you sent me yesterday

they let off a sweet aroma
of lust and infatuation

I put the petals in my yard
hoping they would grow again

today i tend and care for
something that wouldnt even sprout

still, constantly captivated by it's potential

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
burning the roots of the rose
you sent me days ago
they let off a dense smoke
of righteousness and resolution
I laid the ashes on the sidewalk
in a pretty pattern that looks like your initials
tomorrow it will rain
and the ashes will seep into the soil
killing any rose waiting to grow in my garden
a strong emotional reading here...the ties that bind don't fade away nearly so easily...
